Emirates, flydubai codeshare opens up more rewards for flyers

Flyers can now earn both Skywards and Tier Miles when they book with Emirates flight number operated by flydubai

Dubai:  Emirates customers will now have more chances of racking up frequent flyer points when they choose to book a flight operated by flydubai.

Shortly after announcing its codeshare routes with its sister airline, Emirates confirmed on Tuesday that flyers can earn both Skywards Miles and Tier Miles on flights that are booked with an Emirates flight number and are operated by flydubai, for trips from October 29, 2017.

“This means that there are now more destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East for your to explore,” the airline said in an advisory to its customers.

The amended rewards programme also applies to trips that connect through Dubai to or from more than 15 cities, where one of the other flights is operated by Emirates.

It is also applicable to return flights operated by flydubai between Dubai and Prague, Muscat and Kuwait.

The two airlines announced on Monday that Emirates will codeshare on 29 routes operated by flydubai.

With the new partnership, travellers will have more chance of earning miles and move to the next tier more quickly.

Silver, Gold and Platinum members will also get to enjoy their extra checked baggage allowance, as well as priority check-in at flydubai Business Class check-in counters when travelling on emirates codeshare flights operated by the low-cost airline.
